The following is a list of the Collaboration days this school year:

Dear Parents/Guardians of Burnaby South students,
Collaboration time will begin on Wednesday, October 5th. The following information will make you aware of what is going on at South and what both students and staff will be doing during this time.
The Collaboration Day time schedule can be found on page 6 of the student agenda planner and is as follows:
| 7:30 - 8:45 | Period 1-5/2-5 |
| 8:50 – 9:35 | Tutorial / Collaboration Time |
| 9:40 – 10:50 | Period 1-1/1-2 |
| 10:50 – 11:05 | Break |
| 11:05 – 12:10 | Period 1-2/2-2 |
| 12:10 – 1:00 | Lunch |
| 1:00 – 2:03 | Period 1-3/2-3 |
| 2:08 – 3:11 | Period 1-4/2-4 |
| 3:15 – 4:30 | Period 1-6/2-6 |
Topics being covered by student mentors with grade 8 and 9 students are as follows:
| • | Study Skills (i.e. organization, note-taking, studying effectively) |
| • | The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers by Sean Covey (Topics covered are: Building good habits, Taking responsibility for your life, Define your missions and goals in life, Put first things first, Think win/win, Learning to listen, Work together to achieve more, and renew yourself). | • | Bullying and Racism will also be covered. |
Grade 10 – 12 activities will include:
| • | Grade 10 students will be working with peer tutors on assignments, projects and/or homework. |
| • | Grade 11/12 students will be given a study block during this time. Certain areas of the school will be dedicated to curricular areas. For example, a quiet room for reading, AP Study group, Science lab work, etc. |
| • | Grade 10-12 students will take part in informational or topical assemblies with guest speakers which will decrease the amount of class time spent on these events. |

| • | Languages (developing resources) |
| • | Garden works program |
| • | Peacemakers Training |
| • | Math 8 (developing resources) |
| • | Science (resource-sharing) |
| • | Historical Hallowe'en (October) |
| • | Research Historical Fiction and Graphic novels (November) |
| • | Developing ESL Resources |
