Burnaby South was among 200 schools who applied for the Best Buys School Tech Grant. Burnaby South were one of 14 schools in Canada to win the Best Buy School Tech Grant.
The school will purchase some DSLR Cameras, a GoPro, and some other accessories including sound equipment to increase the amount of hands-on-time with relevant technology for students.

This was the first year that Burnaby South has participated in the World Scholar’s Cup.
Burnaby South sent 6 students each to participate in this two day event. Here is how they placed:
- The team placed 4th overall in the Senior division
- They were 2nd overall in the Writing Component of the competition
- DeForrest Petrik came in 3rd overall in the individual Senior division competition
- Jared Kutney was selected to be a part of their final day debate showcase event
The Burnaby South team has now qualified for the Global round in CapeTown, South Africa.
Please note, that there will be a rehearsal for all grade 12 students in preparation for our upcoming School Leaving Ceremony. The rehearsal will be held on Tuesday, May 30 at 12:30 pm at the Bill Copeland Centre (3676 Kensington Avenue, Burnaby). It is anticipated that students will be dismissed from the Bill Copeland Centre approximately 2:30 pm.
School Leaving Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at 7:00pm. Grads should arrive NO LATER THAN 6:00 PM.
Grad Gowns will be distributed through the office during LUNCH TIME ONLY starting Tuesday, May 23, Wednesday, May 24 and Thursday, May 25.
In addition to the Grad Gown, Cap, and Stole, Grads will also receive an envelope, which will include 2 Complimentary Tickets.
Extra Tickets are available at the Main Office at $5.00 each.
